To clean classic vinyl roller shades use a well wrung cloth or sponge dipped in a solution of mild dishwashing detergent and lukewarm water and wipe the shade in sections. Open it and lay out on a clean flat surface. If the blinds are plastic or metal and you want to leave them in place to clean them make a 50 50 solution of warm water and white vinegar in a bowl or bucket. Then fill your clean bathtub with warm soapy water and place them inside.

Get your sponge out of the soapy water and use it to lightly wipe the affected areas. Since fabric blinds are delicate and can get easily frayed resist harsh scrubbing. Soap will easily dissolve all that needs to be cleaned in the blinds and you ll see the fabric get cleaner with each stroke of the sponge. Gently vacuum first on one side and then the other following the pleat.

Start at the bottom. Mix in a little mild dishwashing soap. If the fabric shade is a vertical blind use a damp sponge in between the slats and clean the areas missed by the vacuum. Never submerge shades in water or get them overly wet.

Repeat this until the stain is removed.
